WILSON YOUTH SOCCER

HOUSE LEAGUE

2009

Dear Sir or Madam:

Attached is a registration form for the House League 2009 soccer season.  You will receive a separate form for each child you had signed up last season.  Should you need additional registration forms, please make a copy of the one attached, or, you may download a copy from the League’s web site: wilsonyouth.demosphere.com

We strongly prefer that you return your form(s) to us by mail.  Your envelope must include the proper payment and be postmarked by March 14, 2009 to be eligible.  The League will hold one day of registration at the Wilson Town Hall on Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 10:00am to 2:00pm.  Registrations received after March 15th  will be taken but at a higher cost.

The League will continue our policy of assigning players to teams on a first come first serve basis, regardless of how long they have played with the league.  We will date registration forms as they are received and assign players to the teams according to:

1) HOW MANY COACHES VOLUNTEER, and 2) how early you returned your forms.  We were very fortunate and grateful that we had enough coaches last season, and no one who registered was turned away.  We encourage all parents to consider coaching this coming season to ensure success again this year.  Anyone who registers and who cannot be accommodated (due to lack of coaches) will be notified and have their money refunded by the end of March. We strongly suggest you mail your forms back early to have the best possible chance of having your child/children assigned to a team.  Note: children of parents who volunteer to coach are assured that their children will be placed on a team.

Coaching Support:  This year we will again attempt to get the use of experienced soccer instructors to run a number of the team practices.  From our past experience, players and coaches have benefited greatly from this.  Some parents just starting to coach may find running practices difficult, as they may not have prior soccer/coaching experience.  This program is intended to benefit those new coaches as well as the players.  We hope this program will encourage more parents to volunteer as coaches, allowing us to have more teams with fewer players, which means more playing time for each player.  We also hope to have a coaching clinic in place before the season.

This year we will have a MANDATORY parents meeting on May 2nd at the Wilson Soccer Complex Main Field’s stands @ 3pm.  A rain date for this meeting will be the 16th at the same time.  At that meeting player and coaching assignments will be announced. Also at this meeting we will discuss any pertinent information regarding the league.  It will also give an open forum for parents to ask any questions they may have.

The policy for this year on assigning your child to an age group:

-Minis are children who are presently in Pre-K and Kindergarten.  Pre-K children must be 5 years old by December 1, 2009 (born December 1, 2004 or before) to be eligible.    Copies of birth certificates will be required with all Pre-K registrations.

- There will be FOUR more age groups: Bantam, Intermediate, Junior & Senior.  The oldest seniors would be in eighth grade for the ’08-’09 school year.  These groups will be split up by age after registrations are received and assignments will be announced at the parent meeting in May.  Dividing the children in this manner should promote equal opportunities for all players as well as a safer playing environment.

When: SUMMER!!  Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm starting June 1 through July 16th.   The season will end with the House League Tournament on July 18th with a picnic at this event.

Where: Thomas Marks Elementary School for all practices and games.  (Children should attend practices along with playing in the games.)

Siblings:  It is our policy to place siblings of the same age group on the same team.  If you are signing up siblings in the same age group, please indicate in the margin your preference: do you want them together or not.
